ABOUT ASSOCIATION

Slovakia is divided into 8 self-governing regions called "samosprávne kraje"

All regions are represented by the Association of self-governing regions of the Slovak Republic called SK8. It is a voluntary, independent on territory of state or political parties association. It was founded on May 16, 2006 in Bratislava & the highest body is the Association's Assembly.

The main goal of the SK8 association is to advocate the interests of the self-governing regions and their residents, to actively influence the development of self-governing functions, to unify the procedure of the members of the association in the exercise of the competences entrusted to them, and to propose solutions to the problems of self-governments to the relevant authorities.
